Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is a spin-off of the very popular brawler series. In this case, we will be dealing with a completely different genre, but for some it will be equally important to know about the target platforms of this game.
Mortal Kombat: Onslaught for mobile devices
Will Mortal Kombat: Onslaught join the ranks of the best RPGs? Now, we won’t answer that question for obvious reasons, but even if it does, we’ll be talking about a mobile gaming set. After all, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is a production being penciled in for gaming tablets and smartphones.
Shock? Not likely, as this won’t be Sub-Zero and Co.’s first love affair with mobile devices. The other thing is that not everyone may be thrilled with such an announcement, as there are questions about a new installment of the main series. From NetherRealm Studios’ recent comments, however, it seems that this is a rather distant topic. Unlike Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, which is scheduled for release next year.
What will Mortal Kombat: Onslaught offer?
Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is overseen by well-known brands, Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios. The most intriguing seem to be the announcements talking about betting on RPG genre. Unfortunately, no more specifics were given so far. In fact, only a few generalities were thrown in, including mentions of a “cinematic storyline”. The game will allow players to create teams of many famous fighters and fight in real time.
“We’re pushing the boundaries of Mortal Kombat to allow players to experience the series in new ways while staying true to its nature. With Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, we’ve transformed Mortal Kombat into a strategic, team-based RPG with fast-paced, group-based melee combat that both new and existing fans will enjoy.” – Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios
The target platforms, or rather mobile systems, were not specified, but it’s hard to expect anything other than iOS and Android. Subsequent announcements should be more extensive.
